This September we’ll be hearing a little more from Kate Gosselin. In addition to the various interview platforms she’s managed to jump on, now she’s scored an opportunity to co-host on ABC’s The View.
The “Jon & Kate Plus 8” mom will co-host the daytime talk show Sept. 14 and 15 at 11 on WABC.
Gosselin joins previously announced Meghan McCain (Sept. 9-11), LaToya Jackson (Sept. 16 and 18) and former Fox News Channel anchor E.D. HillElisabeth Hasselbeck while she’s out on maternity leave until mid-October.
“The View” returns Sept. 8 with executive producer Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd. Hasselbeck will video-conference into the studio using Skype during the premiere to say hello. It will be the first time the show has used that particular technology.
“View” co-executive producer Bill Geddie told the Daily News on Wednesday that when he was considering celebrity co-hosts to sit in Hasselbeck’s seat, he took two things into consideration: They either had to be women currently in the headlines or women with a conservative voice who could fill the right-leaning void while Hasselbeck was away. Each guest personality will have two days slotted to host. The thought is that this will give each person enough time to talk about what they are currently up and give them a chance to do some actual discussion. This would be especially true in Kate’s case. You know the View’s gaggle of girls will be eager to dish. Though they better hope she won’t be as tight lipped as she was for Larry King.
