Kate’s Got Her Talkshow
Over the weekend, Kate shot the pilot for her new show. And we even have a name! Her new talk show will be going by the title “Mom Logic”.
I gotta say, that’s not the catchiest name I’ve ever heard. I don’t hate it, but the name does kind of lay there limp on the tip of your tongue. I give the new name a solid rating of “meh”.
It seems that Examiner agrees with me.
“Jon and Kate Plus 8” star Kate Gosselin is planning on shooting the pilot episode of a talk show over the weekend, and it appears that we now have a working title for it: “Mom Logic.” Based on a website of the same name, the show is meant to cater to everything related to mothers whether at work, at home, or in any period of crisis. Reports are that Kate’s first guest will be Mel B, a former Spice Girl and “Dancing With the Stars” contestant who is also the mother of Eddie Murphy’s child.
However, it probably isn’t fair for me to say that this is “Kate’s show,” since reports out there suggest that chef Paula Deen will actually be the face of the franchise. From a marketing standpoint, this frankly doesn’t make a whole lot of sense; sure, Deen is a staple on the Food Network, but she doesn’t have the audience that “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ did when the separation was occurring in June (not to mention the tabloid sales). Another issue with this show right now is with this “working title:” what makes it appealing to viewers? Let’s face it: people often watch TV because of the name attached to it. “Ellen” is popular because you always know you’re going to get Ellen DeGeneres. If Kate Gosselin is the biggest name on the bill, then it makes sense that they would try to market the show around her. “Mom Logic,” meanwhile, sounds too preachy. Read on…
