Is Kate Cracking?
Kate’s ice queen exterior is melting under the heat of divorce and media pressures, not to mention the ratings slide that has forced her to consider other income options. Will this bring more supporters to her side or only serve to alienate the ones she already has?
However, a new report by the New York Post throws some of Kate’s ability to host a talk show into question. A source at the taping of “Mom Logic” told the Post that “producers flashed a picture of Kate’s children on a screen and she burst into tears. She said she hates being away from her children, but now that she’s to be divorced, she has to work.” The key words in this quote are “has to;” Kate’s new job may very well be a labor of necessity rather than a labor of love, and this may very well not be what the talk show world is looking for. Think of it from the perspective of the producers: if you have numerous candidates to choose from for potential hosts, wouldn’t you want the candidate who would love their job the most? Kate will also have to realize that her fame is through her children, and that her life (including her relationship with Jon) would be a frequent topic of discussion.
From one standpoint it’s always great to show emotion; Kate would draw a great number of people to “Mom Logic” and her desire to be with her kids all the time may make her sympathetic in the eyes of many mothers. However, there’s also the issue that Kate cannot cry every time a picture of her eight kids is shown. What Kate supporters triumph about the “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ star is her ability to show resolve even in touch situations. (Examiner)
