Jon Comes Through With The Dough
It was the Jon Minus Kate show this morning.
Mr. Gosselin arrived sans his estranged missus in a Pennsylvania court to let the judge know he indeed paid back $180,000 he had improperly withdrawn from the couple’s joint account.
Jon sought to turn the tables, telling Judge Arthur Tilson that the MIA Kate needed to account for $33,000 in missing moola.
Kate’s attorney, however, said the amount was small enough that the arbitrator overseeing the couple’s divorce did not require her to explain why she needed the funds and that Kate had been “fully compliant.”
The next arbitration session is set for next month. By then, Jon will have to find a new attorney. His last one, Charlie Meyer, called it quits today.
Kate, meanwhile, skipped out on the fun to attend a women’s conference. She’ll be back on the airwaves tonight fielding viewers’ questions on the final episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8. (E! Online)
Well well, I guess I owe Jon an apology. I thought for sure he’d come up with some excuse as to why he wouldn’t be able to pony up the bucks today. But there you have it. Even Kate’s lawyer released a statement expressing the Team Kate’s pleasure at seeing the money returned.
“We are clearly pleased that the monies taken by Mr. Gosselin have been returned to the marital account, and we look forward to recouping additional monies taken by Mr. Gosselin at the time of the parties’ private arbitration hearings…Despite his initial comments denying responsibility, we have established that Ms. Gosselin needed emergency relief to prevent her economic claims from being compromised.”
I must admit, I’m more than little surprised that Kate was allowed to skip this mornings hearing to attend a conference. Aren’t court dates usually set so that both parties could, you know…show up? It seems a tad irresponsible if you ask me. But, if everyone personally involved in the matter didn’t mind, who am I to complain?
