And don’t even get me started on Jon’s escapades or his recent lawsuit against Kate for the custody of the children. Who’s he kidding? I wouldn’t trust him with my dog, much less kids. I’ve just gotta chalk this one up to yet another publicity stunt. He has been on the back burner lately – I guess he thought it was time to make waves again.

But I digress.

Of course, I’m really here to talk about Kate’s new show, “Twist of Kate”. As I understand it, Kate has managed to land, not one, but two shows on TLC. First, Kate Plus Eight will relaunch (sans Jon of course). This gives the eight yet another chance to have all of America watch as they work their way through all the embarrassing moments of childhood (and beyond in to puberty, perhaps?).

Second, we will all be treated to more Kate Gosselin in Twist of Kate (which sounds like she’s going to be served “on the rocks”). The new show will have Kate hosting as she highlights strong woman figures and their journeys through adversity. My understanding of the show makes it sound like one big Kate worship fest.

“Twist of Kate” will follow the reality star and supermom as she visits the homes and workplaces of her subjects, where she will exchange insights for living.

Her subjects?? I know we’ve all called her a “queen” bee, but seriously, she’s no royalty.

I don’t even want to bother with her “insights”. Go with the $5,000 hairdo, or splurge on the $7,000? Hmmmm….

“Kate doesn’t want anything to do with other contestants…While there’s a lot of camaraderie among the crew and other stars including Pamela Anderson, Kate has set herself apart…She wants to be queen bee.”

Rumor has it that merely her presence kept Olympic skater Johnny Weir from participating in the show. Personally, I’ve gotta go with those saying that he is just grumpy about her.  His reports of her muddling up his neighborhood with paparazzi would certainly be enough to cause him to let loose with a few hateful words towards her.

Now, there are some flying to Kate’s defense, saying the claims of her giving the DWTS crowd the cold shoulder are completely false. Much like the people defending her during the Today Show, they say that these rumors are being spread to give her a bad name.

However, given the harpy squawking we were all treated to during her reign on J&K+8, it isn’t all too far fetched she turn her nose to a few other people – you know, they are “just” celebrities. They don’t hold a candle to her reality-”star” status.

First we have Kate landing a spot on Dancing with the Stars. Lots of people have been making a big deal over this.  Personally I can’t say that I’m that interested. I can only assume that she’ll make it through part of the show, dancing decently but with no real distinction. Certainly Aldrin will last longer, despite her being half his age. It’s no contest – living legend versus fame mongering housewife.

But I digress.

Because what could be better than Kate having an opportunity to be put in her place amongst real celebrities? It would have to be Jon getting solicited by Playgirl – and for a fraction the price. It’s like they were short one page on the magazine and ran to the bargain bin for filler. While 20 gees is not a sum to laugh at, Playgirl’s offers are usually much, much higher. Try $80,000 dollars higher, as Levi Johnson was reportedly payed for his shirtless shoot.

“We discussed it and we’d offer him only $20,000,” Playgirl rep Daniel Nardicio told Life & Style magazine. “His star is extinguishing, and he’s not very [well endowed].” (source)

Ouch – that’s gotta sting.

“I love it. I think she looks amazing. I’m not gonna lie, she looks really good,” Hailey tells ET of the former “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ star’s new ‘do. “It’s ’80s meets 2010 — she has the party in the back and short in the front. She looks so much better now than she did three or four years ago.” (ET Online)

Who would have thought Hailey would have been so complimentary of Kate’s new “clean slate” look? Especially after all the cat fights that took place over the summer and fall. I guess the two have managed to put their past behind them now that both of them have suffered through putting up with Jon’s cheatin’ self.

Oh, and I just caught the price tag for Kate’s new hair. If you like the look, it will only put you back $7,000.

The new hairstyle took more time than most of us have to ourselves in a week. 20 ‘painstaking’ hours of styling, to be exact. Kate skipped the awkward growing out stage that the rest of us have to endure and bought a hair-ton of extensions.

In People’s interview with the ‘new’ Kate, she stressed that the hair was the beginning of a ‘fresh’ start for her and her kids.

So how do you feel about her new look? Would you say she’s attained her ‘fresh’ new look, or is she just trying too hard?

Kate will not be hosting the new show this spring.

Rumors are flying as to whether she has been dropped by the network, with the reasoning being that she was “too controversial”. I’ve also seen a report stating that Kate had never been slated to be a full time host for the show – only a guest.

Well, I just don’t know what to think. I guess we’ll just have to wait to see what other showtime gigs Kate comes up with.

Interesting.

Her body guard Steve Neild spoke to the ever curious press, telling them that Kate was doing some “test” filming for a future project.

One can only guess this has something to do with the new show that Kate will be hosting this spring. My question is, what does food service have to do with it? The impression that everyone has had about the new show is that is will be following the talk show formula. Can’t say that I’ve seen many talk show hosts slumming it as a local waitress.

Kate logged about 3 hours as a server at Finch’s. However, pictures are limited – as soon as the photographers were noticed by Kate’s entourage, they had the restaurant close their blinds to end the picture taking.

We wait with bated breath to discover what this little experiment was all about. Meanwhile, on the Gosselin home front, the kiddies are beginning to stress over the conspicuous absence of the camera crew. Kate revealed that during one drive home from school, they kept tearfully asking ‘Where’s the camera crew?” and saying “We miss them”.

Actually, this is perfectly understandable. All Kate’s obvious attention-grabbing attempts aside, I can’t say that I’m surprised to hear that the children miss their crew. These children have had these people by their side and giving them attention virtually their entire lives. I’m sure that they view the crew as a form of extended family. I can imagine that it would be hard on the kids to suddenly have “family members” disappear.

However, I’m not going to call the crew back. Even though we all have our doubts as to how sincerely concerned Jon was about his children (versus just being spiteful), I can’t disagree with his decision to kick the cameras to the curb. Right now all the kids see are kind cameramen, and the episodes are akin to home movies. It’s only later in life that they will realize the atrocious breach of privacy they experienced during a crucial part of their lives. Their parents allowed a window into their childhood privacy through which the entire world could watch, and those very same men each held a pane.

As the eight grow older, those “home movies” will lose their shine. The kids will be able to watch and read between the lines a bit better. And in doing so, they will have perfect record of their parents’ marriage falling apart and the tension goaded on by TLC. I’m sure those happy memories will be sullied by this knowledge.

The footage originated from various episodes already edited and aired. So essentially, this show was just the unwanted scraps, much like that 59 cent hot dog seen eternally spinning in the gas-station hopper.

To add insult to injury, these editorial hot dogs were edited to put Jon in a very unfavorable light. I guess TLC has completely jumped onto the Kate bandwagon, and  pitched Jon under the wheels. There is no mistaking who’s side they are on after last night.

Kate was pretty much allowed the run of the show and she took every opportunity to let Jon have it. If there was blame to throw, she threw it. Hard.

During the segment about the dogs, she all but flat-out said it was Jon’s fault that the family had to get rid of them. She blamed him by implying that it was his job to train them, and that he was just plain lazy and didn’t do it. She also let her catty side out by saying that Jon needed a collar instead of the dogs.

Classy.

Naturally Kate whined about Jon not spending enough time with the kids, and that Jon is putting his own selfish needs before them.  The viewers were treated to heartless footage of Jon ignoring requests for popsicles in order to talk on his cell phone or him chatting up the paparazzi over the family’s fence while the children beg to go swimming.

Of course, amid all this Jon bashing, we have to have some Kate glorifying. Cue in the book signing segment. What’s more entertaining than watching Kate being gushed over by adoring fans? Actually, a lot of things. How about paint drying?

Oh, and don’t forget the self-congratulatory segment of Kate (and not Jon she so graciously pointed out) serving dinner at the Ronald McDonald House. That was so PR fake it was sad.

Along along, the TLC crew can be heard kowtowing and laughing at every lame joke Kate fires their way.

Pretty much a summary of the whole episode could be boiled down to this: TLC and Kate wanted to throw Jon under the bus and attempt to soil his already tainted reputation, all the while buffing Kate’s image until it shined. It was so obvious it was painful. Given the fact that it seems like Jon has been trying to ruin his image (and being quite successful, I might add), this whole episode was a petty and unnecessary stunt to pull. Why not take the high road and not stoop to mudslinging?

As I said, Jon was doing a perfectly good job all by himself making him look bad.

Now yet another anonymous inside source is saying, no. Those tears were about as genuine as your grandpa’s false teeth. Just a ploy to get viewer sympathy.

“Crying on TV was part of the agreement,” said an insider concerning her November 2 interview with Natalie Morales of NBC. “The whole thing was staged to make viewers feel sorry for Kate in order to drum up support for her new show Kate Plus 8. (Times of the Internet)

If this source isn’t yanking our collective chain, can anyone says they are surprised by this news? Yes, Kate made quite the show, agonizing about her divorce with Jon and accusing him of being an alien abductee. But deep down I don’t think that many people were fooled. This whole debacle with J&K+8 has been based on so many untruths that it’s hard not to be a little cynical.

In the end, I think Times if the Internet sums up our feelings on the matter quite nicely.

For the rest of us it’s hard to believe Kate Gosselin is feeling that much emotion about losing her man.

After all, it’s only Jon Gosselin.

But not anymore.

Kate Gosselin says she regrets berating and bossing around her estranged husband, Jon, on episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8, conceding she was “wrong to treat him that way.”

“I was very hard on him and I would never deny that,” Gosselin told Natalie Morales on Monday’s TLC special Kate: Her Story. “I felt very much like a lot of weight rested on my shoulders.”

The matriarch was often captured chewing out her husband on the early seasons of the show and says critics were right “to a degree” that she emasculated him. “Was it good, healthy and wonderful? No,” she said. “Am I proud of those moments that were captured? No.” (source)

While she did step down from that pedestal of hers and apologized for her rude attitude, Kate still didn’t show any sympathy towards Jon and his “lost youth” whining – an attitude that resulted in his recent relationship blunders.

Can’t say as I blame her.
