Jon Joins Funny Or Die For A Laugh

Jon hooks up with the popular comedy website FunnyOrDie.com for a new spoof on his life.

In the video, Jon talks about how he wishes he could go back in time and take all of his d-baggedness back. He removes his earrings, takes off the sleazy Ed Hardy shirts, and dumps the liquor in the fridge. He even tells a blond in a bikini to go home – he’s done partying.

While the video is certainly worth a chuckle, it does bring to mind a few questions. If Jon is doing this spoof, then obviously he is aware of what a tool he’s been recently. But does anyone really think he’s wanting, or willing, to go back to pre-alien abduction Jon?

In many ways, this spoof would have been funnier if they had used an actor look-alike, much as the website did for the Jon Gosselin Match.com video. With Jon starring in the video, addressing every d-bag cliche he’s managed to pull this year, it’s really just sad.

‘Nana Janet’ Passes Away At Age 72

In the early episodes of Jon and Kate Plus Eight, many family and friends would appear in their daily lives. One was a family friend named “Nana Janet”. Sadly, she reportedly passed away at the age of 72. When the children were younger, she played an integral part in their daily lives, and Kate (at the time) claimed she couldn’t have managed without her.
Below is a cute clip from the second season of J&K+8, shot during the sextuplets’ birthday party. “Nana Janet” is featured trying out the pony ride hired for the party. She certainly seemed like a sweet lady, and I’m sure her family will miss her dearly.

Peaceful (Enough) Birthday

Despite the Gosselins’ assurances that the twins’ birthday would be civil between the parents, I think we all still expected the fur to fly. So much to my surprise, the gossip pages this morning weren’t a twitter with the latest Gosselin row. It seems that Jon and Kate were overall able to keep their promises to Cara and Mady, and have a nice quiet birthday for them. Kate even allowed Jon to hang out past the 6:00 deadline that she had previously set.

Not that the big day didn’t have a few bumps in the road. Jon was sent to pick up the cake, and lo and behold, Mady’s name was misspelled. No big deal, but for whatever reason, people just don’t like seeing their names misspelled on birthday cakes. I know I’m one of them. Supposedly, an unnamed female caller placed the order for the cake and added an extra “D” in Mady’s name.

The bumps in the road did take a slightly more attention whoring twist in the form of Jon’s publicity antics. The suspicion is that Jon tipped off some photographers about the time of the party (and his presence at the home, of course) in exchange for some moolah. Radar Online has the riveting footage of that little stunt. In the video Jon claims he’s just stepped outside to “make a phone call”. Riiight. I’m beginning to think that Jon has “paparazzi-sense”. He can feel the presence of a camera up to five miles away (and then wastes no time jumping in front of it).

Is anyone else creeped out by the two “Team Jon” fans in this video? They even had T-shirts made! Ewwww. If it were me, I’d be weirded out by strangers coming to my home wearing my name on a shirt. But not Jon. He seems completely unphased as they discuss their rad shirts while he signs them. Words are not enough to describe my feelings about this. Just know that it makes me supremely uncomfortable.

The video is mercifully short (I don’t know how long I could take Jon’s emo, monotone replies to the media hounds crowding his fence). Jon eventually pulls out his phone to make that call that he ostensibly intended to make in the first place, then slowly begins wandering back towards the house.

So there you have it. I can only hope for the kids’ sake that their birthday went as smoothly as it appears to us.

Kate Has A Lighter Side

Most of the time we’re treated to a stressed out, bossy, or otherwise grumpy Kate. And if she’s not harping on someone during the TV show, then maybe she’s shaking it up by letting a few tears loose on a talk show interview.

But last night Kate went a whole new direction with her image. On The Jay Leno Show, she tried her hand at a little humorous acting, poking fun at herself as a “supermom”. In this approximately 2 minute skit, she goes from chastising the “paparazzi” who are hounding her to treating them like they were her kids. Her acting wasn’t exactly dynamite, but the skit did elicit a chuckle from me. It was refreshing to see her finding the humor in what must be a daily frustration (having to deal with the actual paparazzi). Actually, it was just refreshing over all to see her show her lighter side.

Clutter Clean-Up And Money Matters

Despite all the action off camera, last night’s episode was pretty quiet. Back to the old formula in a hum-drum kind of way. And by “old formula” I mean, we got to watch Kate boss somebody around. Jon may be gone, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t targets for Kate’s bossily rude attitude. The organization girls that she hired to help out with the basement clutter made pretty darn good targets.

But who wants to watch a household activity so mundane we all avoid doing it ourselves (just look at my “dumping grounds”), when we can just tune in to any interview-based show and get the real action? The money he-said-she-said debate has no end in sight as of this moment. The Gosselins have a rumored 11 bank accounts squirreled away, so there seems to be a little confusion as to which one Jon has been pilfering. Now Jon is claiming to have irrefutable proof that the supposed $230,000 withdrawal never happened. He’s waving around more bank statements than there are signs at a health reform protest rally. All are going to prove he only took the pocket change sum of $22,000.

Given the Gosselins’ love for the camera, I’m sure we’ll continue hearing about this little drama as it unfolds. Kate, it’s your move.

Jon’s Going To Court!

Tonight CBS will be airing yet another interview with Jon Gosselin. As usual his arguments are elegantly phrased, “blah blah blah”. Has anyone noticed that no matter what side of his 180 flip he’s on, he sounds exactly the same? He’s like a voice modulator that has been programed to sound tense and angry. The only thing that changes are the words.
So far I’ve been mute on the flying accusations that Jon only wants the kids off the air now that he’s been dumped from the title. It’s just been tabloid speculation, even though the timing is quite *ahem* coincidental. But I’ve gotta say, actually hearing him talk about it, it sounds like sour grapes to me. If he can’t be on TV, then no one can!
He’s now vehemently (always vehemently!) declaring that he wants his kids off television. He wants to give them back their childhood. Hmmm…sounds familiar. You think he’s been reading all the celebrity blogs populating the internet? You know, the ones all asking the Gosselins to give their children back their childhoods?
But really. How can we take this seriously after he went on and on about how much the kids love filming, it’s “ridiculous” that it’s hurting them, it’s not work, etc.? At least fess up to that previous attitude, Jon. But he’s not even acknowledging the fact that just a month ago, he had no problem selling his children down the river. Hmmm…what was that again? Your children as mini Ed Hardy models? Remember that?

Personally, I find it a little creepy that the guy being interviewed talks about putting tension back into the show. That sounds so scripted! Not to mention completely amoral. All that tension that TLC loved so much resulted in a failed marriage. Fantastic. Thanks TLC. Glad to know making good ratings has your priority over healthy, happy reality-show employees.

I’ve got to admit, this does make me feel just a tad sorry for Jon (didn’t think that was possible after this summer). Now he has to “guest star” in his own family life? That sounds terrible! It can’t feel good to be cut out of your own family like that. Dirtbags have feelings too, you know.

A lot of comments are being made about the timing of Jon’s divorce extension request and the show’s rechristening. Could he be trying to get his name back on the marquee? Maybe. On one hand it could be him just trying to get that paycheck flowing again – no show, no dough. And we all know that he isn’t exactly the motivated type. But perhaps he just doesn’t want to see himself removed from his family in such a definitive way.

It’s been a while since the Match.com parodies of Jon and Kate hit the internet. We were certainly due for another. And comedian Kathy Griffin delivers! She stars in a short “film” as none other than the posh octomom herself. Wow, does she hit that nail on the head. We’re talking a Tina Fey as Sarah Palin kind of impersonation here.

And it only gets better. George Takei comes out of the rainbow woodwork to stand in for Jon. Can you say, fabulous? He’s the icing on this satirical cake. I nearly lost it when he delivers the line “Of course I love kids! Have you seen my girlfriend?”.
